At the heart of Alpha Chi Omega is philanthropy. Nationwide, members come together to support our national philanthropy benefiting domestic violence awareness. Through the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation and yearly philanthropic events, we pledge to shed light on domestic violence awareness, education and prevention.
Each Alpha Chi holds a special place in her heart for victims of domestic violence, as well as a motivation to help rid our community of this problem. We do so locally by working closely with Genesis Women’s Shelter. Each dollar, diaper or article of clothing donated makes an everlasting difference in the lives of these victims.
SMU Alpha Chi Omega believes the silence needs to be broken about domestic violence and we want you to join us in being a voice for those in need.
Alpha Chi Couture
Alpha Chi Omega’s largest and most charitable event is Alpha Chi Couture. In February, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary of Couture by raising over $120,000 for Genesis Women’s Shelter, the One Love Foundation, and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation benefiting domestic violence awareness. Each year, members and alumnae come together to host the Couture fashion show and silent auction as a way to get the entire SMU and Dallas community involved with the cause. This year we had student models from 18 different organizations on campus participate in our sold out event. We are so proud of the efforts being made to bring awareness and hope to the victims of domestic violence in our community and beyond!
Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi
This past September, Alpha Chi Omega hosted our first annual Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi on Dallas Hall Lawn. We had SPIN Pizza, music and a fraternity pie-eating contest as a fun way to get students involved. Students and members of the SMU community bought tickets for the event and all proceeds went to the women and children at Genesis Women’s Shelter. We raised over $1,600 that went toward purchasing coats for the upcoming winter season.
Home for the Holidays
Each year, Alpha Chi Omega hosts its Home for the Holidays winter cookie and hot chocolate event at the Alpha Chi house. All proceeds from this event go to buying gifts and other necessities for the women and families at the Genesis Women’s Shelter. At this year’s 2016 event, Alpha Chi Omega raised over $1,300 in order to buy coats, hygiene products, and gift cards for domestic violence victims.
